Add An Alaskan Land Tour To Your Cruise

Alaska Land TourAdd An Alaskan Land Tour To Your Cruise

Those that love all that Alaska has to offer can consider making their Alaskan cruise even more meaningful and amazing by taking on a land tour of the location as well as that of the by sea tour. There are many reasons to do this, if you have time and are more adventurous rather than just being the tourist. Alaska is a wilderness that is full of some of the most amazing landscapes and people. The culture and the view are two things well worth taking in to the fullest. With a land tour, you can experience more in depth what Alaska can offer to you.

The land tours will last a bit longer than a standard cruise line trip. They are going to cost a bit more as well for that same reason. Nevertheless, you will find many benefits from these land tours. You will be able to stay at various mountain lodges on land or in standard hotels if you would rather. There are also adventurous tours that you can take onto mountain trains or fishing expeditions into the wild waterways of Alaska. In addition, you can see first hand what life is life in Alaska and take in the culture of the people.

If you are looking to explore all that Alaska has to offer, then consider what you will find here. There are a wide range of experiences to be had from both your cruise ship as well as from the land tours. A true adventure into Alaska is not complete without a bit of exploring on the land. So, if you can not do the land tour, make sure that your cruise allows for more than a few shore adventures as well. This will allow you to experience a bit more of what Alaska has to offer to you.

Alaskan Princess Cruise Review

Alaskan Princess CruiseAlaskan Princess Cruise Review

This is an Alaska Princess cruise review, covering a cruise between Vancouver and Anchorage, by way of the Inside Passage.

Princess operates one of the largest fleets of cruise ships in Alaska every summer.

I took a cruise departing out of Vancouver, British Columbia in early September. The cruise lasted seven days, ending in Anchorage, Alaska.

The Island Princess and its sister ship, the Coral Princess, were introduced in 2003, and both currently serve Princess’s ‘Voyage of the Glaciers’ route between Vancouver and Anchorage (or, specifically, the port of Whittier).

Both ships accommodate 1970 passengers, only about 20 (or 1 percent) more passengers than the older Sun Princess class of ships, yet they are about 15 percent larger than the older ships, giving them a more spacious feel.

This added space really makes for an even more relaxed environment on the days at sea.

Yet the Island Princess (and the Coral Princess) are not as large as the newest mega ships, so they remain less intimidating and more intimate.

The service on Princess cruises is excellent. Everything from the cabin porter service to the dining room wait staff is top-notch. I really had no complaints at all with any of the crew.

The entertainment and events staff is also excellent. I especially loved the onboard naturalists, who gave frequent talks on Alaska’s wildlife, geology, and history.

The variety of shore excursions offered by Princess is also exceptional. My favorite would have to by the Misty Fjords float plane trip out of Juneau.

One tip: take advantage of the afternoon high tea in the dining room.

As Princess is a British line, they offer an incredible selection of pastries, scones, and small sandwiches.

Since very few passengers tend to take advantage of the tea service, you often will have a large team of wait staff at your beck and call.

It really is a great deal of fun – a chance to feel like royalty for a while.

In addition to Princess’s top-notch service and ships, they offer the most cruises stopping in magnificent Glacier Bay, into which cruise ship traffic is severely limited.

So to sum up my Alaska Princess cruise review, Princess is my favorite of all Alaska cruise operat 1000 ors. I highly recommend their cruises.

The Best Way To See Alaska Is On An Alaskan Cruise

Alaskan Cruise 2The Best Way To See Alaska Is On An Alaskan Cruise

Nothing is more fun and exciting than taking a cruise. But why not go one step further and take a cruise in Alaska. It is just a matter of making up your mind that it is time to take an Alaskan cruise and see one of the natural wonders of the world. An Alaskan cruise will be a beautiful memory.

There are various ways to cruise in Alaska; here are a just few of them:

Alaska Inland Cruise – you will have the chance to visit all the inland wonders of Alaska. You will surely be captivated with icebergs and glaciers. It is truly amazing to see walls of ice that are thousands and thousands of years old. When you see the icebergs ‘calving’ you will be awed. The Alaskan inland cruise is offered by all of the Alaskan cruise ships.

Alaska Day Cruise is just what it states, a tour on a day cruise. You can have a face to face with a huge wall of ice on an Alaskan day cruise. Or experience the beauty of dancing humpback whales. Of course, this is only practical for people who are doing a land package in Alaska.

Alaska Celebrity Cruise – this is the so-called first class cruise of Alaskan ships. You will experience more royal treatment with a Celebrity cruise. On the other hand, this is a little more expensive among all the Alaskan cruises.

The usual attractions that passengers love about Alaskan cruises are the humpback whales, deep sea fishing and sailing through the Fjords and glaciers. The sights you will see will amaze you. Nothing can compare to the magic of Alaskan cruises. This is the only place where you will see the mighty glaciers and experience incredible wildlife.

The Alaskan cruise package that you choose will also determine the length of your stay. Usually, most Alaskan cruises are seven-day cruises. This is enough time for you to explore the intriguing ports of Alaska. However, the length of your stay can also be extended to as long as 14 days.

The other option is to book a day or two pre or post-cruise package where you can stay in Anchorage or even Vancouver. Many of the cruise lines run what is called land tours. This is where you take your cruise than you board a train th 1000 at will take you through Alaska to places like the Denali National Park. It includes first rate accommodations and usually lasts 10-14 days including your Alaskan cruise.

Consider the size of the ship before you book your Alaskan cruise. On a smaller ship you will have less passengers and less competition for the incredible views. The smaller ships can also get into smaller coves that are less traveled.

On the bigger ships with more than a thousand passengers, it is harder for you to get out of the crowd, get a closer look, or even touch one the glaciers. But be aware that on the larger ships you will find more amenities.

Find the best Alaskan cruise that will fit your needs. When taking an Alaskan Cruise be sure to book some of the Alaskan cruise tours offered by the cruise line. Some of the tours offer amazing trips like a helicopter ride where you will land on one the glaciers. If you want to experience a real adventure, book the tour where you go dog sledding. (Book it early -it sells out fast). Go to a salmon hatchery and watch the bears eating the fish.

Nothing will ever compare with an Alaskan cruise; this will be a cruise of lifetime.

What are you waiting for?

Happy Cruising!

An Alaskan Cruise Vacation – Alaskan Cruise Reviews Give You the Facts

Alaskan Cruise 4Before taking an Alaskan cruise vacation a lot of people read about what the cruise offers just by looking at the cruise lines’ descriptions of the adventure. But in order to get a better balanced feeling for what the cruise will consist of it would be a good idea to also read independent Alaskan cruise reviews.

Alaskan cruise reviews generally offer more realistic pictures of what you can expect.

If you want to take one of the Alaskan cruise tours a good place to start your research would be by reading some travel magazines that have articles about different Alaskan cruises.

  • Since you want unbiased opinions, look for magazines in which neither the author nor the magazine has any connection to the tourism industry.
  • Since the main purpose of the cruise line is to sell you a ticket, you’ll rarely if ever find any negative comments on their own websites. Naturally, they’re always trying to put their best foot forward in order to attract new customers.

It’s not that they’ll remove any complaints that any dissatisfied passengers may have had about their vacation – but keep in mind that when a person complains the cruise line can get in touch with them and make amends before their review appears in front of the public.

It’s not necessary to become cynical and go overboard in the opposite direction, either.

  • When you read reviews on an independent travel site and the author notes some negative comments about parts of the trip you shouldn’t necessarily take it as representing the entire cruise experience.
  • For the most part, though, you will find unbiased positive reviews about the experiences that most people enjoyed when you read independent Alaskan cruise reviews.

Take the negatives with a grain of salt.

When you objectively read the Alaskan cruise reviews you can determine if the author’s expectations were realistic.

Everybody who goes on an Alaskan cruise wants to see whales and polar bears. But it doesn’t always happen. If somebody complains about it and says that the cruise line promised them that they’d see these creatures maybe the author is stretching the truth a bit.

Common sense says that the cruise line couldn’t make promises like that unless the wildlife is working for them. And last I heard that wasn’t happening.

    Read a bunch of reviews.

Since no two people interpret the same thing exactly alike, it would also be good to read more than two or three Alaskan cruise reviews. The more you read about these Alaskan cruise tours the better you’ll know what to expect on your cruise.

  • By reading a bunch of reviews you’ll get better and more balanced outlooks on the overall experiences.
  • If you want the best Alaskan cruise reviews talk to friends and family who took an Alaskan cruise vacation.

It’s obvious that when they get home from a great vacation they love to share the highlights.

  • Listen and then ask them about specific parts of the cruise that you want to know about. That way you’ll get better Alaskan cruise reviews than anything anybody ever wrote in a travel brochure.

Alaskan Cruise Reviews – How To Find The Best Alaska Cruise …

Alaskan Cruise 5Alaskan Cruise Reviews – How To Find The Best Alaska Cruise Packages For You

If you’re planning an Alaska cruise vacation there are plenty of Alaskan cruise packages to choose from. Which are the best Alaska cruise packages for you?

You can narrow down your best choices by reading Alaskan cruise reviews.

Most of the reviews you’ll read are written about people’s own experiences. Read ‘em and you’ll find real people’s reactions to what they found.

Quality Alaskan cruise reviews can help you find the best Alaska cruise packages and also help you to visualize your trip and what you’ll need to bring along.

Things to look for in Alaska cruise reviews:

One of the primary elements of a good Alaska cruise review is how well the reviewer writes. Aside from seeing the cruise through the reviewer’s eyes it will help you to determine the differences between the different Alaskan cruise tours that are available.

When you’re reading Alaskan cruise reviews these are some of the questions you’ll want to answer:

What’s the name of the cruise?
What’s the size of the ship?
How many passengers does it carry?
    How long is the cruise?
    What is its itinerary?
What is the quality of the accommodations?
Are there onshore excursions available and what do they cost?
What is the quality of the food?
What’s the quality of the onboard service?
    What entertainment is offered?
    What emergency services are provided?

Knowing and being comfortable with these things will make your trip more enjoyable and safer as well.

What makes some Alaskan cruise reviews better than others?

Effective Alaskan cruise reviews will leave you with an intimate feeling about all the essential details along with a subtle analysis of the pros and cons of that particular cruise experience.

Critical analysis of different factors is also a big plus. For example, good cruise ship reviews might compare the differences between small ship Alaska cruise travel and large ship travel. It should compare the positive and negative aspects of both types of cruises.

    Alaska Cruise Line Reviews

Alaskan Cruise 6 The kind of ship you pick for yourself says something about your personality, just as does the kind of house you live in or car you drive.

    Which one’s for you?

Different ships for different folks, and to give you some idea of which is which, I’ve put together a small sum up of the types of Alaska cruise lines you can find so that you can find the Alaska cruise lines and ships that best fit your tastes and those of your spouse or other cruise companions.

Mainstream cruises are the big boys of the cruise biz, with mostly giant ships offering the latest attractions designed to appeal to the widest variety of travelers. “Premium” lines are ginned-up main streamers, offering a more refined experience but without the super polish (or super-high prices) of the true luxury lines. Among the mainstream and premium lines, some ships tend to offer cruises geared more to families, party types, or romantic types, though you may be surprised at how many are able to offer all three. We use the description resort ships to refer to those that are just good all-around vessels with a range of activities and entertainment for everybody, though they may also appeal to families, partiers, and romantic types, too.

Luxury cruises are really luxurious, in other words, they walk the walk rather than just talking the talk. After all, almost every cruise line claims that they’re luxurious, while few really are. Those are the ones that stick to the highest standards: exceptional service, refined decor, luxurious accommodations, a sophisticated ambience, and truly fine cuisine. They also tend to sail more wide-ranging itineraries, rarely doing the kind of season-long round-trip cruises from the same home ports, the way mainstream ships do. That gives you a much wider range of destinations from which to choose. Another perk? Though their prices are higher, they also tend to be more inclusive than mainstream rates, often covering wines and spirits, gratuities, and sometimes some shore excursions.

There are a few adjectives we can think of to differentiate between the luxury lines. On old-money lines, very traditional passengers enjoy a very traditional experience. On active luxury lines, the focus may be on taking out a Waverunner or sailboard rather than on putting on the tux for evening cocktails. Family luxury lines attract a lot of younger couples who sometimes sail with their kids.

Adventure and educational cruises are your best bet if you’re after an experience that prizes in-depth learning about a destination’s nature and culture more than quick port calls and on board relaxation. These ships rarely carry more than 200 passengers, and usually have naturalists and historians aboard to interpret what you’re seeing. Within the small-ship world, most lines break down into one of three subcategories.

Learning cruises go full-throttle into the educational aspects of travel, with on board experts from leading nature publications offering lectures and helping with nature interpretation. Active adventure cruises also offer naturalists and historians, but focus more on getting passengers out into nature, programming kayaking, hiking, and trips by inflatable landing craft. Sailing ships are just that – ships with sails, some of them offering passengers the chance to help haul the lines and pull up the centerboard.
