Cruise Deals – Now You Can See the World Without Going Broke

June 28, 2011 by
Filed under featured3, World Class Cruises

Wouldn’t it be great to find a vacation that was the perfect mix of taking-it-easy relaxation and unique and exhilarating adventure-on-the-go, and still have money left over at the end of your trip? Thanks to today’s far-reaching and affordable cruises, you can. No matter what your age or interest, today’s cruises offer a great mix of relaxation and excitement, and offer package deals designed to fit into any budget. With just a little planning on your part, you can have the vacation of a lifetime at a price you can afford.

While most cruises offer package deals that can have you humming all the way to the bank, there are several tips and tricks you can use to help your costs dip even lower. Knowing a few basic guidelines and following some simple advice can help you cut costs to the bone without sacrificing fun. The following ideas will help you get started creating the cruise vacation of your dreams on a budget you can afford.

First order of business: plan ahead. If you’ve never taken a cruise before, knowing what to look for when you’re searching for deals can be dicey. For the best results and most peace of mind, look for an agent or travel booking service that has experience dealing with cruises. These agents and services can ferret out even the most difficult to find deals and discounts, and can help design a cruise experience that’s right for your needs, tastes, and budget.

Consider traveling off-season. Depending upon your destination, off-season could be nearly any time of the year. Your cruise agent can help identify which cruise locations are hottest for the time you’re looking to travel.

Consider relocation cruises. These cruises typically occur when ships are repositioning themselves for an upcoming cruise season, and they can offer substantial discounts over other cruises. Again, your agent or booking service can be a real help in identifying these opportunities.

Ask about what’s included. Cruises today are known for their world-class cuisine, and most cruise prices include meal packages that can keep even the hungriest traveler well fed and satisfied. While many cruise lines are moving to the eat-when-you’re-hungry philosophy, some still offer meals only at specified times. If you’re the type that likes to graze all day, or doesn’t want to be confined by specific meal times, be sure to ask about the types of meal programs available on your cruise.

Also ask if snacks and beverages are included. Many cruises charge for these items, and some offer prepaid packages that allow you to have unlimited snacks or beverages for a low, per-day price. Many cruise lines offer package deals on wine, too, allowing you to pay a set price that entitles you to a specific number of bottles per day. These packages can yield substantial savings, so it pays to look into them.

Ask about discounts on excursions. Especially if traveling in the off-season, your cruise line may offer discounts on excursions in specific locales, or discounts when more than one excursions is purchased. Also, it’s a very good idea to book excursions early for the best prices and greatest availability.

Ask about airfare deals. Many cruises partner with airlines to offer cheaper combined rates than if you booked them separately. If you’ll need to fly to or from your embarkation place, your agent may be able to find a combo deal to save you cash.

Similarly, some cruise lines partner with hotels located near the embarkation location, to offer discounts on rooms either before your cruise leaves or on your return, which means you don’t have to rush straight from your plane to your ship or vice versa.

Most cruise lines price cabins differently according to their location, with rooms on or near main decks and outside cabins being the priciest. To save cash, consider interior rooms. Not only are they cheaper, but they can offer more stability and less motion, a prime consideration for anyone who may need additional time getting their sea legs. Be sure not to book near the engine room or under the disco or other noisy venue.

Sign up for newsletters from cruise lines and travel agencies or booking agents. Many times, these newsletters will offer discounts or alert readers to specials that can offer substantial savings on the overall price of a cruise. For the few moments it takes to register for a newsletter or alert service, you could save big bucks.

Taking a cruise is a great option for people of all ages and interests who want to relax, experience new venues and sights, sample delicious cuisine, and keep a cap on their expenditures. Take your time and select a travel agent or booking service with experience in cruise travel to ensure your cruise is the trip of a lifetime.

Alaska Cruise Ship Vacations

June 28, 2011 by
Filed under featured3, World Class Cruises

Alaska is one of the world’s great cruise destinations, particularly for those with an interest in world class fishing. Alaska is arguably the most beautiful of the American states, and cruise ships offer a unique way of seeing Alaska’s beauty. In addition, Alaskan cruises yield an abundance of opportunities for anglers. The combination of these attractions makes Alaska the ultimate cruise destination for many.

Cruising in Alaska is mostly seasonal, with the primary months running from May through September. The prices in May and September are generally a bit cheaper since these months are at the edges of acceptable climate conditions.

There are many things to see and do on Alaska cruises. Glacier Bay is one of the most popular destinations for cruise ships in Alaska. Glacier Bay is abundant in wildlife, and you are likely to see seals, Dall sheep, bears, and perhaps even Humpback whales. Trolling around in a massive ship through iceberg infested waters to see some of the most majestic views of glaciers and arctic scenery in the world is a thrill that should not be missed.

Misty Fjords is another great destination for Alaska cruises. The majestic tree covered mountains, trickling waterfalls and unique climactic conditions make this a must see destination. In addition to seeing the beautiful fjords from the cruise ship, excursions include the ability to take a float plane to a remote wilderness lake to truly appreciate the remote Alaskan wilderness.

Besides spectacular scenery in remote places like Glacier Bay, and Misty Fjords, Alaska cruises allow tourists to see many of Alaska’s ports of call such as Juneau, Anchorage and Ketchikan. Further, areas like Sitka teach the vacationers more about native Alaska inhabitants and the wilderness in which they live.

In addition to the unique opportunities an Alaskan cruise provides, the world class fishing in Alaska must be experienced by all serious anglers. You can take sport fishing excursions in places like Anchorage (on the Kenai River), Seward, Ketchikan and Juneau. Fishing for Halibut, Salmon, Trout, Char, Pike, and many other species are available in the off shore excursions. Best of all, these fishing excursions occur out of ports where there is plenty to do for those who aren’t interested in the fishing.

Cruising in Alaska is a unique experience that offers joys not found in any other type of cruise vacation. Unlike typical tropical cruises where much time is spent in open water between occasional stops at tropical islands, cruising in Alaska takes tourists to some of the most spectacular and remote corners of the world where nature’s spectacular and awesome beauty is on full display. Cruises in Alaska allow vacationers to learn about native cultures that have inhabited the region for thousands of years. They show the beauty of the untamed wilderness that Alaska remains. And they allow for world class fishing on trips that aren’t focused solely on the angler. Because of all these benefits, cruising in Alaska offers a far more varied, unique and awe inspiring vacation than more typical cruise destinations.

Six-Star Cruising on Luxury Cruise Lines

June 28, 2011 by

A luxury cruise is just what the name implies, a cruise at the upper end of the spectrum, not just five stars but a six-star cruise. There are six cruise lines that are in the luxury class: Crystal Cruise Line, Cunard Cruise Line, Radisson Seven Seas, The Yachts of Seabourn, Silversea Cruise Line, and Windstar Cruises.

Crystal Cruise Line has received numerous awards for excellence. For the last nine years, Conde Nast Traveler has named Crystal “Best Large-Ship Cruise Line”. Also for the last nine years, Travel + Leisure magazine has given Crystal the status of “World’s Best Large-Ship Cruise Line”. And for service, a Travel + Leisure reader’s poll voted Crystal “World’s Best”. Crystal Cruise Line operates only three ships: Crystal Harmony, Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity. These ships carry approximately 1,000 passengers each and Crystal Cruise Line boasts the greatest passenger space per guest of any cruise line.

Do you recognize the ship names Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth? These great ships come from Cunard, a name long synonymous with luxury and elegance in cruises. “With Cunard, the journey may be even more magnificent than the destination” states their promotional literature. Cunard operates just two award-winning luxury ships. The Queen Mary 2, launched in January, 2004, is known as the longest, tallest and largest ocean liner and carries 2,620 passengers. It is replacing the Queen Elizabeth 2 for transatlantic crossings but the QE2 will still be available for cruises.

Radisson Seven Seas is a small luxury cruise line. Small here means that the ships carry a small number of passengers. Fewer than 700 fortunate passengers per cruise are pampered by attentive staff. Radisson Seven Seas has been named by Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure magazines to be the “World’s Best Small Cruise Line”. Radisson Seven Seas appeals to the sophisticated traveler.

The Yachts of Seabourn cruise line advertises that they provide “Ultra Luxury” by “delivering the highest levels of personalized service to an exclusive group of guests aboard intimate, elegant ships that could visit the most enticing destinations worldwide.” Seabourn sails three identical all-suite ships that cater to only 208 passengers each. Of course, dining and service is world-class.

Silversea Cruises is a new company, founded in 1994, for the express purpose of providing an ultra-luxury cruise experience aboard small and intimate ships with all the features of a large cruise vessel. The Silverseas ships Cloud, Wind, Shadow, and Whisper provide all-suite accommodations that between 250 square feet and over 1,300 square feet in size. Silversea vies with Radisson Seven Seas and Crystal Cruise Lines for the accolades of Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure in the world’s best categories. Silversea Cruises has also has been named by Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure magazines to be the “World’s Best Small Cruise Line” many times since its inception.

Windstar Cruises offers a totally different sailing experience. Windstar Cruises offers motor-sail-yachts instead of cruise ships. Yes, their ships actually have sails that are computer-controlled with the latest in technology. Windstar’s four ships carry just 148 to 308 passengers in staterooms or luxurious suites, giving the feel of being aboard a personal yacht. Even with such a small fleet, Windstar Cruises sail to over 47 countries around the world.

If you’re in the market for a luxury cruise, there are a number of excellent cruise lines to chose from.

World Cruises Offer a Wide Range of Destinations and World Class Luxuries

June 28, 2011 by

Today, world cruises offer travelers more choices than ever before, from traveling on large ships that accommodate 2,000 passengers, to sailing on smaller vessels that can navigate into little known, secluded bays.

Several cruise lines offer world cruises in 2011. Some of the more specialized world cruises include the Holland America Line, Crystal Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and the Yachts of Seabourn. Each of these world cruise lines have particular characteristics that separate them into distinctive categories, and, therefore, appeal to different groups of travelers.

Holland America cruises has a long and proud history of delivering extraordinary vacation experiences, starting with its first ship in 1873. It is recognized as one of the prodigious emperors in the cruise industry. Holland America’s fleet of 15 ships offers over 500 cruises from more than 38 home ports, and covers all seven continents. Holland America cruise ships range in size from the Prinsendam carrying 793 passengers to the newest class of ships accommodating more than 2000 passengers. Holland America Grand World Voyages has eight separate grand voyages ranging in length from 29 days to a 110 day cruise. The 110 day, Holland America Grand World Voyage starts and ends at Ft. Lauderdale circumnavigating the entire world, and docking at more than 40 ports of call. Other shorter cruises target certain sections of the globe. Some start at Fort Lauderdale, and disembark either in Australia, or New Zealand. Others start at Australia or New Zealand, and sail to Greece, China, or the United Arab Emirates. Some of the ships are dedicated to a particular theme that may include museum quality art works, antiques, Mayan art, or a tribute to the world’s great music.

In 2010, Crystal Cruises will offer a 110 day voyage on the Crystal Serenity starting from Los Angeles and ending in London. The Crystal Serenity also has a 94 day voyage that is round trip sailing from and returning to Los Angeles in 2011. Other 2011 excursions on the Crystal Serenity include shorter trips to Papeete, Auckland, Sydney, Singapore, Mumbai, Cape Town, and London. These shorter voyages have attractive special offers that include 2 for1 fares, free air travel, and “As You Wish” spending credits with varying limits.

The Regent Seven Seas 2011 world cruise has a striking 145 night voyage. Sail on the Seven Seas Voyager from San Francisco west through the South Sea Islands, up through the Suez Canal, and across the Mediterranean to Southampton, England. The Regent Seven Seas world cruise is offering you an opportunity to personalize your own cruise itinerary by allowing you to combine several cruises of your choice into one perfect cruise. In October, 2010, Regent Seven Seas Cruises was voted the world’s best cruise line in the “large ship” category by the 2010 Condé Nast Traveler magazine readers’ poll, with an overall score of 92.3%. Travel and Leisure magazine also ranked Regent Seven Seas Cruises among the “Top 10 Large Ship Cruise Lines.”

The Yachts of Seabourn world cruise offers ultra-luxury voyages on smaller, more intimate sized yachts which offer 104 to 225 suites with plush amenities. These smaller boats can navigate into bays, harbors and inlets where the large ships are prevented. This allows the traveler to see sights that many have never seen before. Seabourn world cruises offer complimentary wines and open bars thoughout the yacht, as well as all-suite accommodations, many with verandas. Seabourn world cruises have many unique features such as “Movies Under the Stars,” “Dessert Under the Stars,” or the nights when the Captain turns off all the ship’s lights so passengers can appreciate the Milky Way while sipping 25 year old scotch. Daytime activities may include water skiing in a tucked away bay using the yacht’s onboard Watersport Marina Facilites. Sailboating, Pedal Boating, and other water activities are also available. In-the-sea surprises might include “Caviar in the Surf” with champagne and caviar served on a surfboard “bar,” or taking a swim in the ocean surrounded by a circle of steel mesh to keep you safe from hungry predators.

Whatever your cruising preferences may be, you are sure to be well pampered and pleasantly entertained on the Holland America world cruises, Crystal world cruises, the Regent world cruises, or the Seabourn world cruises.

The “Perfect” Honeymoon

June 28, 2011 by

What would you consider to be a “perfect” honeymoon? It could be something as simple as a couple of nights at a local hotel, or it may be a stay at a luxurious resort. There is always the perfect choice for each couples needs.

The main aim of the honeymoon is for the two of you to wind down after the preparation and celebration of your marriage, and it’s a chance for you to be alone together. The honeymoon gives you the chance to relax and discuss your future life together, while having a lot of fun too.

A Honeymoon In The Country

This is ideal for those who want to have a quiet honeymoon or would like to hike through forests, or ride horses, or perhaps stay on a farm and help with the day to day chores. If you live in the city then the change from hustle and bustle to hearing only the birds in the trees could be just what you are looking for. And don’t forget about all the fresh air!

A Honeymoon By The Sea

There are so many resorts all around the world which are either surrounded by sea or are a short walk away. There is nothing as relaxing as sitting on a beach and listening to the waves crash on the shore. You immediately feel relaxed as soon as you arrive. Some of the resorts are so elegant and beautifully appointed that you will never have to leave the resort at all during your stay. Everything is at your fingertips.

Going On A Cruise

Cruising is the ultimate honeymoon because everything is catered for. As soon as you board you are usually allocated a butler who will take care of all your needs. You will not have to lift a finger the whole time you’re onboard. The beauty of a cruise is that you get to see some exotic locations as well. Everything except your drinks is covered in the fare.

A honeymoon is something that every couple looks forward to so whatever you choose to do, whether it’s a quiet couple of days or 6 weeks overseas, make sure you enjoy every moment!

A Guide to Planning Your Perfect Honeymoon

June 28, 2011 by

There’s nothing more special than spending time with your new spouse on a romantic honeymoon. The honeymoon planning process is an exciting time. A lot of couples enjoy making plans for their honeymoon as much as their wedding planning. To get good honeymoon deals it’s a good idea to book early. Talk to your local travel agent to get your honeymoon plans started. One of the first things to do is work out your budget. How much money you have will affect what type of honeymoon you can have.

Now that you’ve organized your budget, it’s time to start the real honeymoon planning! Start by talking about what you might like to do on your honeymoon, there are so many different possibilities. Once you’ve decided on a “theme” for your honeymoon you can now start looking at honeymoon locations. Not all honeymoon locations are created equal. Each type of location has its ups and downs which you need to be well aware before you make any definite plans. For example, a luxury Fijian exotic honeymoon might be just what you’re looking for, but if your wedding is in December you’ll have to put up with it raining a lot since that is smack bang in the middle of their rainy season.

Once you’ve done all your research and you’ve decided on your perfect honeymoon location it’s time to start looking into the details. Make sure you check with your travel agent if you require any travel visas. Check if your passport is still valid. If you’ve chosen an exotic honeymoon destination such as Africa you’ll likely need certain vaccinations.

If you’ve chosen not to use a travel agent it can be hard to know what places are truly nice to stay in. Tripadvisor.com is the best place to look for independent traveller reviews, you can find honest and real opinions which make the booking decision much easier to make. It can be a good idea to plan your activities in advance; you can arrange a lot of things from home via the internet or your travel agent.

Don’t forget you’ll need local currency to buy meals and anything not prepaid. Most countries accept major credit cards, but it’s always useful to have at least a little cash. Your bank will charge you a fee every time you use your credit card overseas, so if you’re on a strict budget make sure you check with your bank how much you can be expected to be charged. Now that all your honeymoon planning is done, you can relax right up until a few weeks before the wedding. Pack your bags a couple of weeks before the wedding, while you’ve still got time to do it properly. Double check everything and make sure your passports are packed. Most important of all have a fabulous honeymoon!

Check out my full articles on various locations which I think would be perfect for a honeymoon [http://www.honeymoon-travel-destinations.com/]. I also have further tips and great advice on honeymoon planning.
